Heron City, Las Rozas, Madrid
The Heron City concept was authentically innovative with regard to existing products in the Spanish market, and in line with the most advanced trends. The project has been published by the ULI (USA) as a symptomatic example of the first siting in Europe of an entertainment centre of the famous fifth generation. Its singularity lies in being the first development with a character of open urban space for the local inhabitants, the existence of corporate tenants of a high quality, the extensive use of publicity and marketing, and finally, the participation of international assessors in the leisure sector.
The scheme included a Multiplex AMC cinema with 24 screens, an FEC, a gym and a wide variety of bars and restaurants in a commercial area of 22,600m² and with more than 2,000 parking spaces.
The conceptual design was produced by the firm KMD of North American Architecture, with ample experience in the leisure sector on a worldwide level.
